The Operations team maintain, repair and upgrade 7,666km of high-pressure pipe, 23 compressor stations, 504 above-ground installations, and 8 connected distribution networks through a highly skilled team of over 600 technicians and engineers across Great Britain. Working around the clock to maintain and enhance the infrastructure that powers homes, business and industries, guaranteeing a steady and secure energy supply.

As the Site Compliance Officer for our Peterborough Compressor Station, you will be responsible for the control of all permission documents and the continued safe operation of all plant on a site, taking the role of Site Controller.

 

You will drive a team culture of safe working and safety compliance in all work activities with National Gas Policies and Procedures, authorising permission documents, undertaking incident investigations and safety/technical inspections.

 

You will maintain accurate site operational records including log entries as required, to ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures, legislation and regulatory requirements whilst supporting the construction and commissioning of new assets onto the gas transmission.

 

You will contribute to the development, review and update of emergency, security, safety, operational and environmental plans, and procedures to ensure safe and cost-effective operation of operational sites.

 

You will assist with routine maintenance activities associated with Compressor Station, Pipeline, AGI systems and other assets to optimise work effectiveness and efficiencies, maximising asset availability and reliability.

 

This role will require you to participate in Zone Standby Rota to ensure the safety of operations and the continuity of gas supplies which ranges between 1 week in every 4 to 1 in 6.

What we are looking for

To be successful in this role you will have technician level experience in a Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation discipline having undertaken maintenance fault diagnosis and rectification work. You will have an appreciation and understanding for operating in a hazardous area within Safe Systems of work.

 

It would be advantageous to have experience with aero derivative and high voltage electrical drive machinery trains including detailed understanding of how plant is safely isolated, decommissioned, and re-commissioned. You could have experienced this in a variety of industries, we can bridge the gap on any specifics related to gas.
