National Gas Metering maintains and manages around 6.8 million domestic, industrial and commercial combined gas assets across the UK, enabling homes and industry to access the energy they need safely and reliably. We support new connections and maintain existing installations.
About the role
If you see the opportunity in every challenge and you’re always striving to make progress, that’s exactly why we need you in our Engineering team within National Gas Metering (NGM).
As a Senior Integrity Engineer at NGM, you will be responsible for providing robust and safe metering systems for our customers within an allocated geographical area.
You will achieve this by overseeing the co-ordination of various engineering field activities with multiple stakeholders. This will include undertaking end consumer meetings, liaising within NGM’s service partners, asset suppliers and working closely with your colleagues in the Engineering Team plus within other areas of NGM.
You will be dynamic and adaptive to managing multiple projects within your area to meet our customer needs by providing the most suitable engineering solution. You will provide clear scopes of work and will order materials in line with Metering processes and contracts.
You will possess strong project management and communication skills and promote team working; forming relationships with external parties will be a key part of your role. You will be a role model for all elements of safety and you will ensure NGM’s Safety, Health and Environmental objectives are delivered.
You will look ahead and suggest future investment and innovation opportunities for our operational metering portfolio to influence positive change whilst also being responsible for evaluating investment requirements against condition, risk and whole life costs of an installation. Within this role you will be required to participate in a 24/7 standby rota.
What we are looking for
To be successful in this role you will have working knowledge on Low, Medium, Intermediate and High Pressure gas installations, and to hold appropriate 'Gas Safe' and SCO qualifications. Experience in the design of modules and commissioning of Metering Assets is advantageous.
