About the Role

You will be part of National Gas Transmission’s Uncertainty Mechanism team, playing a critical role in shaping the future of the UK’s gas transmission network. As a Bid Specialist , you will work closely with stakeholders from across the business to secure funding for strategic capital investments.

You will be working to build our Uncertainty Mechanism (UM) Re-opener Submissions (think about them as mini-business plans!). This is a highly visible role that focuses on shaping investment priorities and developing high-quality regulatory funding submissions.

Your work will provide confidence to external stakeholders that we are delivering investments that maintain reliability, resilience and performance to deliver for our customers. Uncertainty Mechanism submissions play a significant role allowing us to adjust the scope of the Business Plan (and related funding) based on the changing energy landscape.

What You'll Do

  • Define, own and lead the development of robust UM Submissions translating strategic objectives into robust, deliverable investment plans.
  • Develop and maintain risk and value based submissions that balance asset performance, network risk and customer value and provide clear, evidence-based communication of investment decisions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deploy robust approaches to whole-life cost modelling, cost-benefit analysis and investment appraisal ensuring decisions are evidence-based and consistent
  • Communicate complex investment decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proactively build strong relationships with stakeholders internally and externally and own the relationships that help define the team’s outputs and submissions.
  • Provide assurance, confidence and transparency across investment decision-making process and supporting evidence for submissions
  • Identify and deliver continuous improvement initiatives that enhance asset management capability and maturity.
