About the role
We're looking for an experienced Threat Intelligence & Hunting Manager to lead our intelligence fusion capability, helping National Gas anticipate, assess and respond to emerging physical, geopolitical and cyber threats. This role combines strategic intelligence leadership with proactive threat hunting to strengthen the resilience and security of critical national infrastructure.
As the UK's energy landscape evolves, so do the threats facing critical national infrastructure. This role is pivotal in ensuring National Gas can identify, understand and mitigate risks before they impact our operations, people or strategic objectives.
You'll lead a team responsible for producing intelligence-driven insights, managing key government and industry partnerships, and driving advanced threat hunting activities across our IT, Cloud and OT environments. Your expertise will directly influence security strategy, executive decision-making and organisational resilience.
What you'll be doing
- Lead and develop the Threat Intelligence team, ensuring effective use of the intelligence cycle to identify and assess emerging threats.
- Build and maintain National Gas' common intelligence picture, delivering actionable intelligence products and executive briefings.
- Define and manage priority intelligence requirements, collection plans and warning indicators.
- Lead intelligence-led threat hunting activities to proactively identify sophisticated threats across enterprise environments.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key industry, government and security partners.
- Develop strategic threat assessments, horizon-scanning products and all-source intelligence reports to support business decision-making.
- Collaborate with security teams to enhance detection, monitoring and prevention capabilities across cloud, on-premise and operational technology environments.
What you'll bring
Essential
- Significant experience in threat intelligence, intelligence analysis and intelligence operations within cyber security, defence, government or critical infrastructure environments.
- Strong understanding of geopolitical, physical and cyber threat landscapes and their impact on business operations.
- Leadership experience within cyber security operations, threat intelligence, threat hunting or incident response functions.
- Deep knowledge of intelligence collection, analysis methodologies and production of strategic, operational and tactical intelligence assessments.
- Strong technical understanding of Microsoft security technologies and security operations environments.
- Experience designing and leading proactive threat hunting programmes.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and translate complex intelligence into clear business insights.
Desirable
- Experience working with Operational Technology (OT) and Industrial Control System (ICS) security.
- Undergraduate degree or Master's qualification in Intelligence, Security Studies, Cyber Security or related discipline.
- SANS FOR578 (GCTI), FOR589 or equivalent threat intelligence/hunting qualifications.
- Experience working with government agencies and intelligence-sharing communities.
- Recognised leadership or management qualification.
What we offer
- Market-leading double-match pension (up to 12% company contribution)
- Annual performance bonus up to 15%
- Access to the Tusker salary sacrifice car scheme
- 28 days holiday (plus statutory holidays)
- 10x salary life assurance and income protection
- Flexible benefits including healthcare, dental, and technology options
- Family-friendly policies, wellbeing support, and professional development opportunities
