Competency interview tips
- Try to keep your answers concise. The STAR technique (Situation – Task – Action Result) is a great way to structure your answers.
- Competency questions will generally ask for one example per competency. Try to keep your answer specific and based on a real scenario you have
experienced, versus hypothetical. - Remember to highlight yourself. We appreciate in some examples you may have worked as part of a team, but we want to know about your achievements,
therefore we’ll be looking for lots of ‘I’s’ and not ‘We’s’.
