About the Role

To facilitate the investment lifecycle for a regional theme of capital investment projects, ensuring that projects are initiated, sponsored through delivery and closed out in the required timescales to deliver business strategy, regulatory requirements and operational priorities.

This role involves developing and maintaining medium term investment plans and engaging with key stakeholders in delivery teams to ensure investments deliver the required outputs, on time and within capital budgets.

What You'll be Doing

  • Develop and optimise the medium-term (RIIO-3 price control period) investment plan for a theme of investment, to achieve alignment with business and regulatory objectives
  • Sponsor investment projects through the investment lifecycle to ensure that projects are initiated, scoped, developed, executed and closed in a timely manner
  • Change management of investment plans to respond to change, mitigate risk and achieve delivery of business and regulatory objectives
  • Support the resolution of complex investment plan conflicts, using a data led approach and close collaboration with stakeholders to ensure regional plan outcomes are achieved
  • Work closely with key stakeholders across finance, central investment teams and major programmes to achieve alignment of investment decisions
  • Monitor and present regional investment theme performance, risks and recommendations to key stakeholders across the business
  • Provide regulatory reporting to the central portfolio investment team to describe outturn delivery performance and forecasting of future delivery performance
  • Maintain consistent application of investment planning approach set out by the central portfolio investment team to achieve a single view of the overall investment portfolio

You bring a data-driven mindset and a collaborative approach to everything you do, and you’re confident navigating the intricacies of capital investment lifecycles.

You’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in investment portfolio planning, financial analysis, and risk management.
  • A strong numerical background, ideally supported by a degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Confidence in using data to guide decisions, resolve conflicts, and optimise outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across teams.
  • A proactive attitude and the flexibility to adapt plans in response to change.

It’s a bonus if you have experience with asset investment tools like Copperleaf, or knowledge of utility network infrastructure and regulatory frameworks like RIIO — but what matters most is your curiosity, drive, and commitment to delivering value.

Key Requirements and Experience

Essential:

  • Expertise in investment portfolio planning and optimisation
  • Degree level education in numerical discipline preferred or the equivalent
  • Good numerical ability and evidence of using a data led approach to problem-solving
  • Experience in financial analysis, reporting and risk management
  • Experience in data management and advance data analysis
  • Good communication skills and experience of managing internal stakeholders

 

Desirable:

  • Expertise in asset investment optimisation tools such as Copperleaf
  • Degree level education in numerical discipline preferred or the equivalent
  • Experience of gas transmission assets or similar network infrastructure
  • Experience and working knowledge of utility network price controls i.e. RIIO
