About the Role:
We’re looking for a Lead Control & Instrumentation Engineer to provide subject matter expertise to our project teams, suppliers and stakeholders as we design, build and commission control and protection systems across our gas transmission network. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring our infrastructure remains safe, reliable and secure against cyber threats.
What You'll be doing
Day to day, you’ll collaborate with delivery teams and external partners to help shape the future of our systems, overcome technical challenges and drive continuous improvement.
You’ll provide expert guidance and support, ensuring compliance with legislation, technical standards and quality requirements, while also identifying opportunities for innovation, simplification and standardisation.
You’ll bring strong C&I expertise, a proactive approach to problem solving, and the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
In return, we’ll invest in your development to keep you performing at your best while helping to deliver critical national infrastructure.
You'll spend on average 2-3 days of your working week travelling and working on sites/attending meetings across Scotland and the North of the UK to support in the delivery of the projects with home working in-between. Therefore, it’s essential you hold a full UK driving licence
About You
You’ll be confident working in operational environments, building strong relationships with site teams and delivering pragmatic engineering solutions. You’ll bring a proactive mindset, a collaborative approach, and a passion for continuous improvement. Your ability to communicate technical insights clearly and support others will make you a trusted advisor across teams.
Key Requirements and Expertise
Essential -
- Hold a minimum HNC qualification (or equivalent) in Control & Instrumentation, Electrical or Electronic Engineering
- Experience in the design, build, commissioning, maintenance and operation of Industrial Automation & Control Systems on high hazard process plant
- Full UK car driving licence
Desirable -
- Have a formal development plan in place to achieve incorporated and relevant chartered status
- Member of a professional engineering institution and registered with the Engineering Council such as IEng or CEng
- Experience with rotating machinery and pressurised systems
- Hold some (or all) of the following relevant industry certifications:
- Control & instrumentation expertise in a relevant process industry
- Functional Safety - TUV Functional Safety Professional/Engineer
- Hazardous Areas - CompEx Ex01-04, Ex12a, Ex12b
- Cyber Security - ISA/IEC 62443 Certificate Program (Certs 1, 2 and 3) / GIAC Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP)
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
