About the role
Be the driving force behind safer, smarter engineering. As a Project Safety Engineer and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the UK's energy infrastructure. Your expertise will help ensure our projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
You’ll be at the heart of our major programmes, leading process safety initiatives that protect people, assets, and the environment. You’ll work across multiple high-profile projects, providing technical leadership and championing best practice in process safety engineering. Your insights and solutions will directly influence the safe delivery of critical national infrastructure.
What you'll be doing
- Lead process safety engineering for major projects, delivering high-quality input through studies such as HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA.
- Identify and drive improvements in process safety performance across our assets and operations.
- Provide expert technical advice in line with UK Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice.
- Support project teams and collaborate with external consultants to solve complex technical challenges.
- Shape and enhance technical standards and procedures, managing technical queries and deviations.
- Engage with stakeholders at all levels, ensuring customer focus and effective communication.
About you
We are looking for someone who is a proactive problem-solver with a passion for process safety and a track record of delivering results in engineering environments. You thrive in fast-paced, collaborative settings and are confident influencing stakeholders at all levels.
Key requirements & Experience
Essential:
- Degree in process engineering or a related discipline.
- Working knowledge of Functional Safety (we'll put you through the certification if you don't have it).
- Experience with hazard identification and risk assessment (HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, FTA).
- Proven ability to manage technical issues, deliver projects on time and on budget, manage Technical Queries and Deviations
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Working knowledge of DSEAR and ATEX
Desirable:
- Chartered member of a relevant engineering institution or actively working towards chartership.
- CompEx qualifications (Ex01-04, Ex12a, Ex12b) desirable.
- Functional Safety Certification desirable
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
