About the role:
The Regional HR Business Partner (HRBP) for Scotland and North delivers dedicated and tailored HR advice and support, on all employee related issues in the region, involving the interpretation and application of wider HR policy to suit specific business requirements.
Reporting directly to the operational Regional Director for Scotland and North in Aberdeen, and working closely as a valued voice with the extended leadership team, you will manage business change effectively and efficiently; recruit, identify and develop talent; drive performance, as well as providing leadership support and coaching. You will work effectively across the broader National Gas HR team, be a brand advocate, drawing guidance and support from the HR centres of excellence, with a Recruitment and HR Advisor reporting into you.
Key accountabilities:
- Working with the Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) business lead for Scotland and North region, build a robust understanding of the workforce requirements turning that into an actionable strategic workforce plan that feeds into the broader organisational workforce plan.
- Develop and deliver an appropriate HR Plan to demonstrate a tangible shift in the effectiveness of your business area where there are key HR challenges.
- Provide high quality, consistent, risk-based advice for all levels of management and people leaders for all matters related to the management of employees.
- Operate as a key trusted member of the leadership team, inputting to the broader business agenda, beyond just the HR elements, with constructive challenge, if appropriate.
- Lead on assigned key projects and activities (e.g. DEI, Talent, EVP etc) and lead small functional OD work as appropriate.
- Work closely with a range of specialist colleagues within the broader HR Function and with the Head of People Partnering ER and Cases, to provide tailored, best practice solutions to business problems.
- Analyse key themes, trends (internal and external) and performance metrics to identify how different scenarios may impact on the business and make recommendations for progression.
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures to minimise the number of tribunals, grievances and complaints.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local Trade Union (TU) representatives, working with the ER Cases team in the course of dealing with any employee relations issues.
- Work within the established TU frameworks to ensure issues are raised and addressed in a timely manner, representing the Company on established groups and forums as required.
- Manage 1 direct report, supporting development and performance.
About you:
- Demonstrable HR Business Partnering experience providing professional, risk-based advice, tailored to the needs of the business.
- CIPD Qualified (or studying, minimum L5)
- Excellent knowledge and experience across the full spectrum of People/ HR activities including SWP, talent management, recruitment and ER and cases to provide a rounded service to the business area.
- Influencing and communication skills to build strong relationships at all levels of the organisation and with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Ability to analyse complex situations and make well-considered decisions quickly and confidently.
- Experience of managing projects from initiation to implementation and review.
- Ability to think long-term to translate strategy into operational solutions.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the broader People/ HR function in order to develop an integrated People/HR approach.
- Understand connections between external research and trends and apply to your region.
- Constructively challenge for positive people/ HR outcomes and to uphold Company Values and Culture.
- Confident with large volumes of data (Excel/ PowerBI) and comfortable working in highly confidential environments.
- Competent in Microsoft 365 package, and ideally SAP SuccessFactors.
- Sector experience within the oil and gas, construction, infrastructure, and unionised environments would be highly regarded.
- Full UK driving licence for regional travel when required.

Further information:
- This position is Aberdeen based, 37 hours pw, with hybrid working (3 days pw onsite/ in office; 2 from home). There will be occasional travel across the Scotland and North region where required, and occasionally to one of the other regional offices in the UK or Warwick HQ.
