About the role:

As Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Compliance Manager, you’ll lead the development and delivery of SHE performance across our Scotland & North region, operating in a high-risk, high-pressure gas environment.

You’ll manage a team of professionals covering occupational safety, environment, process safety, and project safety, providing day-to-day guidance and strategic direction to support operational excellence and legal compliance.

You’ll shape a regional safety strategy, building strong relationships across the business, and driving continuous improvement through effective systems, assurance processes, and leadership.

What You'll be doing:

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary SHE team
  • Act as the primary contact for SHE concerns across operational sites
  • Provide expert advice on SHE matters and legal compliance
  • Build strong relationships to support SHE delivery and engagement
  • Develop and implement a regional SHE strategy and improvement plan
  • Maintain and enhance a cross-regional SHE Management System
  • Support site projects under Construction Design & Management (CDM) Regulations, fulfilling key dutyholder roles
  • Drive behavioural change through targeted SHE campaigns and training
  • Oversee incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Manage Safety Management Systems, assurance frameworks, and documentation
  • Monitor environmental performance, including waste and carbon reporting
  • Collaborate with other regional SHE leaders to share best practices

Travel will be part of the job – we have a national portfolio. You'll travel to the Aberdeen or Livingston office a couple of times a week as well as visiting other sites across Scotland & the North with home working in-between.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.

Key Requirements & Experience:

Essential -

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to create and drive a high-performing team
  • High level of SHE/CDM experience and knowledge within both Client and Principal Contractor roles
  • Previous HSE experience of Client and/or Contractor side
  • NEBOSH diploma (or equivalent)
  • Full UK car driving licence

Desirable -

  • Membership with a relevant professional body (ideally CMIOSH)
  • Experience working with COMAH or other major mazard site regulations
  • Knowledge of environmental management systems (ISO 14001) and health and safety standards (ISO 45001)
