About the role
If you have a passion for leading teams to manage and optimise the full lifecycle of engineering assets, we need you in our Engineering team at National Gas Metering (NGM).
As an Asset Lifecycle Lead, you will be accountable for the strategic management and control of all metering assets, ensuring a robust and safe asset portfolio. You will lead a team that drives continuous improvement and value, while meeting customer, financial, legal, safety, and operational efficiency targets.
You will help shape the Asset Management Policy, Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP), and Asset Management Plan (AMP), ensuring asset management actions and investments reflect asset condition and risk.
In this role, you will lead the delivery of ISO 55001 recertification and contribute to risk analysis, making recommendations to improve asset management. You will guide asset investment decisions based on condition, risk, and whole life costs. You will build strong external relationships to influence policy and collaborate across NGM teams to improve ways of working. Safety and value creation will be at the core of your decisions.
You will provide strong leadership, setting clear direction and fostering a high-performance culture. As a coach and mentor, you will empower your team, share best practices, and drive continuous improvement. You will also manage third-party service partners and sub-contractors, ensuring alignment with NGM’s standards. Your technical expertise and commercial acumen will help balance engineering decisions with customer needs and costs.
What you'll do
To succeed in this role, you will bring strong technical and risk management knowledge, along with asset management experience relevant to NGM’s portfolio. You should understand UK legislation and standards for gas metering installations and have knowledge of asset management, supply chain and project management processes.
It is desirable that you are working towards or hold registration with the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) and the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM), or an equivalent professional body such as IMechE or ICorr.
