Join us and help secure Britain's energy.

About the role

Help keep one of the UK's most important gas terminals safe, compliant, and operating at its best.

As a Compliance Engineer at Bacton Gas Terminal, you'll provide expert guidance across safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance, helping protect people, assets, and the reliability of critical energy infrastructure.

Why this role matters

Bacton Gas Terminal plays a vital role in the East Region, connecting strategically important infrastructure to the wider gas transmission network. Every day, the decisions made on site support safe, reliable operations and contribute to energy security across Great Britain.

This is a role with real operational impact. You'll help ensure compliance with legislation, industry standards, and company requirements while driving continuous improvement in safety performance, environmental management, and operational excellence. Working alongside operational teams, regulators, emergency services, and external stakeholders, you'll be a trusted voice for safety and compliance, helping create a workplace where people can perform at their best and go home safely every day.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead compliance activities across safety, security, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor performance, reporting, licences, authorisations, and risk registers to maintain compliance and assurance
  • Support CDM and Temporary Works governance, providing guidance and coaching where needed
  • Plan and deliver assurance visits, identify improvement opportunities, and share good practice across teams
  • Contribute to process safety assessments, risk reviews, and incident investigations to strengthen operational performance
  • Build strong relationships with regulators, emergency services, local authorities, and other key stakeholders
  • Support emergency preparedness, policy development, new asset projects, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Produce and analyse KPI reports to track compliance performance and drive continuous improvement
