Compliance Engineer

£55,500 to £65,500 + up to 6% bonus

What you'll be doing
- Lead compliance activities across safety, security, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Monitor performance, reporting, licences, authorisations, and risk registers to maintain compliance and assurance
- Support CDM and Temporary Works governance, providing guidance and coaching where needed
- Plan and deliver assurance visits, identify improvement opportunities, and share good practice across teams
- Contribute to process safety assessments, risk reviews, and incident investigations to strengthen operational performance
- Build strong relationships with regulators, emergency services, local authorities, and other key stakeholders
- Support emergency preparedness, policy development, new asset projects, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Produce and analyse KPI reports to track compliance performance and drive continuous improvement
What you'll bring
- Knowledge of safety and environmental legislation and compliance requirements
- Experience working in a high-hazard or safety-critical operational environment
- Understanding of industrial assets, plant, equipment, or infrastructure operations
- Experience supporting permit-to-work systems, risk assessments, and safe systems of work
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to coach, influence, and promote a positive safety culture
- HNC (or equivalent qualification) in an engineering discipline, or significant relevant engineering/operational experience
- Full UK driving licence
- IOSH Managing Safely qualification
- NEBOSH General Certificate (with a willingness to work towards NEBOSH Diploma)
- Incident investigation and root cause analysis experience
- Understanding of gas transmission, process industries, energy, utilities, or similar sectors
- Experience supporting construction, commissioning, or infrastructure projects
Security clearance
