Head of Delivery (Bacton Terminal and Norfolk) – £75,000 - £110,000 plus benefits

The Operations team maintain, repair and upgrade 7,666km of high-pressure pipe, 23 compressor stations, 504 above-ground installations, and 8 connected distribution networks through a highly skilled team of over 600 technicians and engineers across Great Britain. About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to take on the role of Head of Delivery (Bacton Terminal and Norfolk).
This pivotal position requires a strategic thinker with a strong operational background to lead the safe, efficient, and effective operation and maintenance of our gas transmission network. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for managing both operational (Opex) budgets and capital (Capex) project delivery, ensuring that all activities are aligned with organisational goals, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
As Head of Delivery (Bacton Terminal and Norfolk), you will sit at the regional leadership table and be involved in all aspects of running a successful region, including taking accountability for shaping how delivery contributes to the wider business strategy.
You will lead a diverse, multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture grounded in safety, innovation, and continuous improvement. Your leadership will be key in balancing immediate operational demands with long-term asset investment strategies to maintain the resilience and sustainability of the network.
You will collaborate closely with senior leaders across the organisation to integrate regional delivery plans within the broader national framework. Your role will also encompass overseeing compliance with statutory maintenance regulations, managing emergency response readiness, and always championing a safety-first approach.
Effective financial stewardship will be essential, as you will be accountable for budgets totalling a significant portion of the networks spend. Building and maintaining strong relationships with regulators, local authorities, and partners will also be critical to ensuring smooth and efficient delivery across the region.
What we are looking for
- Technical Expertise – Good knowledge of gas transmission networks, or other similar complex critical infrastructure. In-depth knowledge of complex infrastructure management, gas compressors, pipeline maintenance and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Safety focus – Strives for zero harm and ensuring safety is at the forefront of everyone’s minds while at work, setting good examples and encouraging an open and honest reporting culture to keep everyone safe.
- Leadership – Proven experience leading large cross functional teams and managing multi-site operations, with a focus on developing talent and driving high performance.
- Project & Programme Management – Proven capability in managing large-scale projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Contract and Vendor Management – Strong experience in managing complex supply chain contracts and maintaining effective relationships with vendors and service providers.
- Financial Acumen – Ability to manage large regional budgets, oversee financial planning, and ensure cost-efficient delivery of capital projects.
- Regulatory Knowledge – Familiarity with local and national regulatory frameworks governing gas transmission or other similar complex critical infrastructure - including safety, environmental and operational standards.
- Crisis Management – Expertise in emergency preparedness and response planning, with a proven track record of handling operational incidents.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Strong interpersonal skills with experience collaborating with government authorities, regulators and local communities.
- Problem-Solving and Innovation – Ability to identify operational risks and opportunities for improvement and implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
You’ll have a degree or equivalent qualification, bringing together technical expertise with strong leadership and communication skills.
The role holder is expected to spend three days a week at Bacton terminal and other National Gas sites.
As this role works so closely with the UK Critical National Infrastructure it does requires National Security Vetting and for us in particular that means you cannot have a criminal record and in the last 5 years you cannot have been out of the UK for cumulatively 6 months or greater than.
