About us

National Gas is securing Britain's energy. We transport gas throughout Great Britain, repair and maintain gas pipelines, and manage the meters that allow millions of homes and businesses to access the energy they need. We are the national gas network, providing secure energy to power Britain, achieve net zero, and maintain our industrial competitiveness.

About the role

We’re looking for a technically skilled problem solver who thrives on tackling complex challenges and someone who others trust to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions.

Based at Bacton - an upper-tier COMAH site where the highest safety standards and rigorous controls must always be maintained - you'll take on the installation, inspection, commissioning, operation, repair, and maintenance of various equipment, as well as other operational duties at the terminal.

Working as part of our Operations Team, you'll support project work as required and the commissioning of new assets on the system. You'll oversee and inspect work carried out by others. This role will help protect and maintain the high-pressure systems at one of our National Gas terminals. These sites are the engines that take the gas from offshore and introduce it into our National Transmission System straight to our customers.

This is a hands-on, technically demanding role that requires a strong background in instrumentation or control systems, a commitment to safety and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You’ll also oversee contractor activities to ensure instrumentation and safety standards are upheld.

If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact in the energy sector and work on some of the UK’s most critical infrastructure, this could be the role for you.

About you

You’ll be a technically skilled problem solver who thrives on tackling complex challenges and someone who others trust to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions.

You'll need to live around 40-50 miles (approx. 1 hour) from the Bacton site and be able to be on site 5 days a week.

You may also be required to participate in a standby rota 1 week in every 4 or 5, dealing with various faults for which you will get additional compensation for.
