About The Role

As an Operations Technician, your role is to undertake installation, inspection, commissioning, operation, repair, maintenance and emergency response activities associated with Terminal, Compressor Station, Pipeline and AGI assets within a geographic zone of the national transmission system within discipline and competencies as required.

As an Operations Technician, you'll combine technical expertise with a strong focus on safety, helping to maximise asset availability, support new infrastructure projects and respond to operational challenges when they arise. Your work will directly contribute to the performance, resilience and future development of one of the UK's most important energy networks.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Carrying out installation, inspection, commissioning, maintenance, repair and operational activities on pipelines, compressor stations, terminals and associated mechanical assets.
  • Diagnosing faults and resolving equipment issues to maximise plant reliability, performance and availability.
  • Applying safe systems of work, issuing permits and implementing isolations to ensure all activities are completed safely and compliantly.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance, operational and asset records in line with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Supporting the delivery, construction and commissioning of new assets and infrastructure projects across the transmission network.
  • Monitoring and protecting the high-pressure pipeline system, including supporting inspection programmes and overseeing third-party activities where required.
  • Providing technical expertise during routine operations and emergency situations, including participation in standby and incident response arrangements.

Essential

  • Post holders will normally possess proven maintenance, operational knowledge and experience gained within a relevant engineering discipline of Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics or Control Systems
  • Undertaking maintenance, fault diagnosis and rectification work within the Oil & Gas (or other similar Process) Industry within relevant discipline as well inspection work on equipment installed in hazardous areas
  • Operating, controlling and undertaking work within Safe Systems of Work
  • Appreciation of systems and equipment associated with other engineering disciplines within the Oil & Gas (or other similar Process) Industry
  • Knowledge of relevant engineering legislation and Health & Safety regulations, with a commitment to maintaining compliance in all work activities.
  • Operation and control of process plant and equipment
  • Possess relevant Training Certification and/or Evidence of Competencies to support knowledge and experience

  • Mechanical – Compex EX11 - Hazardous Equipment
