About us

National Gas is securing Britain’s energy. We transport gas throughout Great Britain, repair and maintain gas pipelines, and manage the meters that allow millions of homes and businesses to access the energy they need. We are the national gas network, providing secure energy to power Britain, achieve net zero, and maintain our industrial competitiveness.

About the role

From early planning through to final handover, you’ll be right in the mix - owning cost management, driving value, and supporting delivery on site. You’ll partner closely with operational teams and stakeholders to manage risk, challenge costs and keep projects moving.

You’ll join National Gas Services (NGS), a specialist business delivering critical pipeline inspection, maintenance, repair and emergency response services across the UK and Ireland. With over 45 years’ experience, in-house expertise and a nationwide depot network, NGS provides a fast, end‑to‑end solution for gas transmission and distribution operators.

We’re looking for a Quantity Surveyor with strong cost leadership and confident presentation skills, who thrives on variety, collaboration and making a visible impact.

What you'll be doing

  • Keeping commercial and financial records accurate and up to date
  • Supporting and mentoring other QS's and Junior QS's in the team

About you

You’ll be an experienced Quantity Surveyor who enjoys being close to delivery and part of a hands on project team. You’re comfortable with contracts, confident working with contractors, and practical in how you tackle issues. Organised, approachable and collaborative, you’re also happy sharing your experience and supporting others to grow.
