Senior HR Advisor – Ambergate, hybrid – £45-50k+ bens DOE
The Senior HR Advisor provides first point, dedicated, tailored HR advice and ER case management guidance and support on all employee related issues, partnering with operational senior leadership teams.
Reporting to the Senior Regional HR Lead, you will play a vital role in supporting National Gas Services (NGS) and National Gas Transmission (NGT), contributing to the safe and reliable delivery of energy across the country. This is a unique opportunity to be part of an organisation that powers homes and businesses nationwide. Working with different types of business areas will mean a regular transition between operation and strategic thinking will be part of the day job.
This role will operate hybrid working, typically 3 days on site based primarily in Ambergate (DE56 2EN) with some travel (e.g. Birmingham, Warrington and Peterborough where the rest of your immediate HR team will be based).

About the role:
- Support the Senior Regional HR Lead in the development and execution of an appropriate HR plan.
- Provide high quality advice and guidance to line managers for all HR matters including ER cases, ensuring adherence to employment law and company policies.
- Support the Regional HR Lead in developing the talent agenda alongside wider HR projects (e.g. DEI, EVP).
- Support analysis of key themes, trends and performance metrics to identify how different scenarios may impact the business.
- Support compliance with policies and procedures to minimise the number of tribunals, grievances and complaints, and develop and maintain effective working relationships with local Trade Union representatives, working with the central Complex Cases team in the course of dealing with any employee relations issues.
- Work within the established TU frameworks to ensure issues are raised and addressed in a timely manner.
- Provide tailored ‘fit for purpose’ advice.
- Support performance management processes for all Staff and Managers.
About you:
You have strong experience providing risk-based HR advice tailored to the needs of the business. If you have experience of working within a unionised environment this would be well regarded, as would CIPD qualifications. You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the business, and can confidently handle challenging situations, showing resilience and tenacity. You must be willing to travel and be visible across business area. In person you’re collaborative, analytical, decisive and confident whilst able to manage multiple priorities.
