About the Role

We are seeking a Welding Coordinator to ensure the correct application of on-site welding quality activities, oversee quality control execution, and implement quality guidelines and processes. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and managing welding plans, ensuring that all welding activities are carried out safely and in compliance with industry standards.

A key part of the role will be monitoring welding personnel, ensuring they are suitably qualified and working to approved welding procedures. You will also oversee the maintenance of welding equipment, making sure it remains in good condition and is suitable for the task. Additionally, you will manage welding consumables, ensuring they are ordered correctly and stored as per manufacturer recommendations.

To maintain quality and safety, you will conduct visual inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) of welds before, during, and after welding. You will also be responsible for writing and reviewing welding procedure specifications and completing non-conformance reports when necessary.

Further responsibilities include developing and evaluating welding techniques, auditing welding personnel and processes, and participating in working groups to review and implement policies, procedures, and industry standards. You will also play a key role in identifying best practices and lessons learned, ensuring continuous improvement in future gas projects.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a highly skilled professional with a strong background in welding quality control, industry standards, and compliance within the gas sector.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the entire welding process, including the use of non-destructive testing methods such as radiography and manual phased array ultrasonics.

A solid understanding of materials and quality control processes for gas transmission systems is essential. Experience with gas transmission and distribution systems, along with a strong grasp of relevant policies, procedures, and specifications, will also be important. Additionally, the ability to influence, negotiate, and communicate effectively will be highly valued in this role.

A working knowledge of ISO 3834 compliance will also be beneficial, along with experience using welding support standards such as WPS and welder qualifications

Candidates must hold relevant NDT qualifications (PCN or BGAS-CSWIP), be registered with the Engineering Council, and possess a full UK driving licence. While not essential, a HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline would be advantageous, as would additional qualifications in auditing, IOSH, NEBOSH, design management, or CDM.

If you have the skills and experience required to drive welding quality and safety within the gas industry, we would love to hear from you. Apply today
