About the role

We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Yard Supervisor to oversee operations at our Ambergate site. This role is key to ensuring full compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations while driving efficiency and maintaining high standards to meet customer expectations.

You will be responsible for supervising both operational staff and third-party suppliers, ensuring that all activities follow NGS end-to-end processes and comply with control documentation such as lifting plans and RAMS.

A crucial part of this role involves assisting in the planning and execution of yard operations, monitoring activities, and ensuring that all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with established procedures.

You will be expected to drive your team to achieve high levels of productivity, ensuring that customer requirements are met without compromising on quality or safety.

Additionally, you will oversee externally stored stock, ensuring it is managed effectively in accordance with NGS stock processes.

What we are looking for

We need someone with strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a keen eye for safety and compliance. A solid understanding of safety management systems is essential, particularly in relation to planning work, setting tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality standards.

You should have a good level of technical and engineering knowledge, particularly in relation to yard operations, as well as practical experience in risk management. This includes carrying out site-specific risk assessments, delivering toolbox talks, and ensuring all work is properly controlled through RAMS and other safety procedures.

A strong understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures is important, as is the ability to manage a team effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Experience in Lean work delivery principles would be beneficial, as would a background in supervising operational teams.

To be successful in this role, you must hold an IOSH or NEBOSH Managing Safely certification and possess a valid current driving licence. While not essential, a HNC/NVQ 4 in a relevant engineering discipline or significant industry experience would be advantageous.

If you are an experienced supervisor with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and operational efficiency, we would love to hear from you. Apply today to join our team.
