£42,813 to £47,850 plus up to 6% bonus

Hybrid - 3 days office, 2 days remote. This role will also involve some travel to other National Gas Services sites across the UK a couple of times a month.

About the role

We’re looking for a Junior Quantity Surveyor (JQS) to join our Commercial Management team on a 12-month fixed term contract. As a JQS, you’ll support the Quantity Surveyor (QS) in delivering capital and operational projects across National Gas Services. This role provides hands-on exposure to commercial project delivery and offers a pathway to independently manage smaller schemes with support.

What you’ll be doing

  • Reviewing and validating actual costs, early warning notices, compensation events, and project risks.
  • Supporting cost assurance and estimating activities.
  • Assisting with contractor payment applications and substantiation.
  • Progressing to manage smaller schemes with QS/MQS support.
  • Contributing to tender processes, including evaluations and benchmarking.
  • Supporting negotiations on claims and disputes.
  • Building strong relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.

About you

You'll be commercially minded, detail-orientated, and confident in working with data and contracts. You'll enjoy collaborating across teams and keen to grow your expertise in project and cost management. 

Key requirements & experience

  • Strong communication, influencing, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Commercial awareness and supply chain understanding
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Skilled in spreadsheet development, cost analysis, and programme evaluation
  • Experience in contract management - desirable
  • Understanding of project management, scheduling, and cost control principles - desirable
  • Full UK car driving licence
