About the role

 

We are seeking a Safety Specialist (Construction) to provide expert guidance and assurance across construction projects aligned to B4G. This role exists to ensure compliance with safety regulations, deliver professional advice, and foster a culture of continuous improvement in operational safety. You will play a critical part in monitoring safety performance, reviewing risk assessments, and supporting safe execution of works.

 

 

What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Safety Assurance: Conduct first-line safety audits where required and ensure compliance with contractual and SMS requirements.
  • Specialist Support: Review and approve Contractor Construction Phase Plans and evaluate tender submissions for CDM compliance.
  • Compliance & Monitoring: Monitor safety performance, recommend improvements, and verify temporary works inspections.
  • Risk Assessment & Method Statements: Review contractor risk assessments and method statements, and support CDM Risk Register management.
  • Incident Reporting & Investigation: Ensure all safety events and incidents are reported and investigated promptly.
  • Culture & Engagement: Promote a proactive safety culture that drives continuous improvement across all stakeholders.
  • Liaison & Coordination: Work closely with project teams and contractors to implement SHE bulletins, best practices, and lessons learned.

 

About you

 

You are a safety professional with strong technical knowledge and practical experience in construction safety. You thrive in dynamic environments, can influence stakeholders, and are committed to delivering safe outcomes on complex projects.

 

 

Key Requirements

 

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
  • Degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in health and safety management within construction environments.
  • Strong understanding of CDM regulations and risk management principles.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
