Salary: Paying up to £75,000 + Benefits & bonus of up to 15% annually

About the role

 

This is a rare opportunity to step into a high profile role where your judgement and leadership will directly shape a region’s capital investment portfolio. As Regional Investment & Planning Manager, you’ll be at the centre of strategic decision making—ensuring the right investments are planned, governed, and delivered to meet regulatory, operational, and business priorities in real time.


You will lead the end to end investment planning and sponsorship lifecycle, managing how the reginal portfolio is initiated, developed, delivered, and closed. Operating across short, medium and long term horizons, you’ll balance immediate delivery needs with long term strategic outcomes, turning investment strategy into tangible and visible results on the ground.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Developing and maintaining integrated regional investment plans across short , medium, and long term horizons
  • Sponsoring capital investment projects through initiation, development, delivery, and close out.
  • Leading regional investment governance and securing senior approval for key investment decisions
  • Managing change to investment plans, optimising capital allocation to mitigate risk and maximise outcomes
  • Monitoring and presenting portfolio performance, risk, and forward look insights to senior stakeholders
  • Providing robust, compliant regulatory reporting and supporting wider stakeholder engagement.
  • Leading, coaching, and developing a high performing investment sponsorship team.
  • Solve complex, region specific investment challenges to optimise delivery. 
  • Simplify complex issues into clear, actionable messages for senior decision makers. 
  • Influence wider regions, major programmes, and central functions to achieve optimal outcomes across the regulatory period. 
  • Act as the regional link to the Uncertainty Mechanism team, ensuring investment data is captured and shared.

Essential Criteria

 

  • Strong financial capability
  • Effective stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proven leadership ability
  • Clear and confident communication skills
  • Degree educated (any discipline)

 

Desirable Criteria

 

  • Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Finance, Economics)
  • Experience in investment or portfolio planning
  • Knowledge of utility network price controls
