Salary: £42,813 - £47,850

About the role

 

We are looking for a skilled Cathodic Protection Technician to join our Operations & Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, inspection, commissioning, operation, repair, and maintenance of assets across Terminals, Compressor Stations, Pipelines, and Above Ground Installations (AGIs) within the national transmission system. Your work will ensure optimal asset reliability and safety compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Perform installation, inspection, commissioning, and maintenance of Cathodic Protection systems and related assets.
  • Ensure safe working practices by issuing permits and adhering to Safe Control of Operations procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records for all maintenance and operational activities in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Support commissioning of new assets and contribute to technical projects and minor modifications.
  • Monitor pipeline protection systems, including CIPS, DCVG, AC/DC data logging, and respond to third-party work and aerial sightings.
  • Oversee contractor activities to ensure technical and safety compliance.

Essential skills & experience

 

  • Proven experience in maintenance and operational work within Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics, or Corrosion Control disciplines.
  • Hands-on experience with Cathodic Protection systems, fault diagnosis, and hazardous area inspections.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety and legislative requirements.
  • Ability to operate within Safe Systems of Work (including EL96).
  • Relevant training certifications and evidence of competencies.

 

Qualifications:

 

Essential:

 

  • ICorr Level 3 (or working towards)
  • BTEC National Certificate or equivalent (City & Guilds, NVQ/SVQ Level 3) in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Valid driving licence

 

Desirable:

 

  • BGAS CSWIP Site Coatings
  • National Gas Safe Control of Operations approval
  • EL/96 training

 

Security clearance

 

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
