About the role

As a Portfolio Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting regional portfolio planners to manage and optimise a portfolio of projects and initiatives within a defined geographic area. Your primary focus will be on developing and maintaining the regional portfolio plan, ensuring that outage and recompression plans are agreed and in place to enable the smooth planning and delivery of work. This role is essential in driving performance, improving compliance, and enhancing visibility through data and reporting.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the development and coordination of outage and recompression plans for the region, working closely with System Operations (SO) and delivery teams.
  • Support portfolio management by developing, maintaining, and optimising a capital project portfolio, ensuring a continuous investment programme from the year ahead to the long term.
  • Provide planning support by creating integrated portfolio plans, defining investment scopes, and collaborating with stakeholders to assess deliverability.
  • Work with area utilisation leads to optimise resource allocation and ensure efficient delivery of work.
  • Collaborate with project managers, investment sponsors, and engineering teams to schedule investments, manage constraints, and ensure performance targets are met.
  • Identify and manage key dependencies between business activities and portfolio planning to ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Produce monthly reports, metrics, and scorecards to monitor performance and process compliance.
  • Develop and deliver outage performance reporting, maintaining close daily contact with SO to track and understand plan movements.

Key requirements & experience

  • Proven experience in portfolio planning, project management, or asset management
  • Self-driven with a results-oriented mindset
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Strong analytical, numeracy and literacy capabilities
  • Expertise in planning principles to support effective decision-making
  • Experience in scheduling and optimising delivery plans
  • Knowledge of planning processes across various work types
  • Ability to apply and interpret prioritisation frameworks (Cost/Risk/Performance)
  • Understanding of the RIIO regulatory framework
  • Proficient in asset/work management systems
  • Experience managing resource plans and operational constraints
