Compliance Engineer
Salary: £55,744 - £70,500 + Company Car + Benefits
Location: Bristol or Warrington - Hybrid
About the role
This is an outstanding opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering the West Region’s operational and capital project portfolio, directly shaping how nationally significant energy infrastructure is delivered safely, sustainably and compliantly.
As a Compliance Engineer (a role also commonly referred to externally as a Compliance Officer), you will be the trusted technical authority that assures compliance, reduces regulatory risk, and underpins both safe system operation and successful RIIO‑T3 delivery. Your expertise will sit at the very heart of decision‑making enabling the business to progress complex operational activities and CAPEX programmes with confidence in a challenging, highly regulated environment.
You will be embedded across the West Region, working alongside Operations, Engineering and Project Delivery teams to ensure compliance is built into projects from the outset not retrospectively applied. Your work will protect people, the environment and the organisation’s licence to operate, while unlocking progress on some of the most critical infrastructure projects in the region.
This is a highly visible and influential role. You will shape how compliance is embedded on the ground, confidently influence senior leaders, engage directly with regulators and auditors, and continuously strengthen governance frameworks that support both today’s operations and the future energy network.
The role can be based from either our Bristol or Warrington office, supported by a hybrid working model (3 days office‑based and 2 days from home). Regular travel across the West Region is required, and a company car will be provided, ensuring you can stay close to sites, projects and key stakeholders.
This is a career‑defining opportunity for someone who thrives on responsibility, complexity and strategic influence and who wants to be recognised as a credible authority and trusted partner to the business, rather than a back‑office compliance function.
