Design Coordinator – Based Warwick/Nottingham - £51,529 - £65,000 + Company Car

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Design Coordinator to join the West Import Resilience programme, supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure upgrades to the National Transmission System (NTS). This role is central to ensuring our gas assets are designed, built, and commissioned safely, effectively, and in line with National Gas’s technical requirements.

You will act as the single point of contact for technical and design support within the project delivery team, guiding Project Managers, Designers, Principal Designers, and Contractors through complex design processes. Your focus will be on driving value through design optimisation, simplification, innovation, and standardisation, while ensuring compliance with legislation, technical standards, and process safety.

Working closely with stakeholders across Major Programmes, you will help mitigate costly delays and remedial work, support Net Zero targets, and ensure projects meet all safety, environmental, functional, financial, and regulatory requirements.

What we’re looking for

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a relevant design management role.
  • Strong understanding of CDM 2015 Regulations and Safety by Design principles.
  • Proven experience in managing technical queries, risk registers, and design documentation.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 and Quality Management Systems in project delivery.
  • Experience in the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of Gas Transmission assets.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Commercial acumen to drive value through design optimisation and standardisation.
  • HNC in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Full UK driving licence.

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Professional registration with an appropriate body to at least Incorporated Engineer level.
  • Knowledge of the T/PM/G35 Design Approval & Appraisal process and T/PM/RE/18 Commissioning, Operational & Asset Acceptance Process.
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
  • Qualifications in Auditing, NEBOSH, Design Management, or CDM.
  • IOSH certification or relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in value engineering and assessing financial/programme impacts of design changes.
  • Familiarity with National Gas’s SHE procedures and wider business operations.

 

The role will involve hybrid working with a combination home, office & site working, as well as travel to Contractor or supplier premises across the UK.
