About Us:

As a Chemical Engineer here at National Gas, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and reliability of the UK's gas transmission network. Working within a collaborative team of professionals, you will have your own areas of responsibility while contributing to impactful safety initiatives across the business. 

 

In this role, you will:

 

- Use your chemical engineering expertise to deliver safe, compliant designs and ensure they undergo rigorous safety assessments before operations commence. 
- Participate in safety studies such as HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) and LOPA (Layer of protections Analysis).
- Investigate incidents to determine root causes, ensuring lessons are learned and applied.
- Contribute to the development of safety policies, shaping the future of process safety within National Gas. 
- Serve as a technical authority, championing best practices and aligning designs and operations with the latest legislations, standards, and codes of practice.
- Participate in job-relevant training to expand your expertise and support your career development. 

 

This role offers the flexibility of a "Home Start" arrangement, allowing you to live anywhere in mainland Great Britain while travelling to sites and meets as required.

 

What we're looking for:
We are seeking an experienced motivated professional with the following skills and attributes:

 

- Technical expertise with several years of experience in a relevant role, ideally within major accident hazard operations.
- A proven ability to solve problems and deliver effective solutions in challenging environments.
- Confidence in working both independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams. 
- A proactive mindset, with a track record of taking initiative to address challenges in the design and operation of critical assets.
- Chartered status(or a clear pathway towards achieving it).
- A full UK driving license and the willingness to travel regularly to sites across mainland Great Britain.
