Instrumentation Technician - Bishop Auckland - £41,265 to £48,547 (£50k-£60k OTE) + Company Van

The Operations team maintain, repair and upgrade 7,666km of high-pressure pipe, 23 compressor stations, 504 above-ground installations, and 8 connected distribution networks through a highly skilled team of over 600 technicians and engineers across Great Britain. Working around the clock to maintain and enhance the infrastructure that powers homes, business and industries, guaranteeing a steady and secure energy supply.
About the role

We are looking for an Instrument Technician, you will cover a patch to take on the installation, inspection, commissioning, operation, repair and maintenance of various safety, control and measurement, and fire and gas systems, as well as other operational duties onsite.
Working as part of our Operations Team, you will also act as site controller to issue permission documents, formulate isolations and support with the construction and commissioning of new assets on the system. You will oversee and inspect work carried out by others, including support of capital project.
This role will help protect and maintain the high-pressure systems in our compressor stations and above ground installations. These stations are the engines that power long-distance gas pipelines across the National Transmission System.
You will be covering different sites across your local patch, so travel to various site locations is expected, as well as travel to training courses for competencies.
What we are looking for
We recognise we are a niche company, therefore don't worry if you do not meet 100% of the requirements because we know that there is a wealth of transferable skills out there such as experience with PLC's, RTU's, detection equipment, pressure gauges and rotating machinery.
You will have previously completed an apprenticeship (or other recognised training scheme) and hold a BTEC National Certificate (or equivalent City & Guilds NVQ/SVQ Level 3) in an Instrumentation, Control Systems or transferable discipline.
You will have worked / be working in industries including but not limited to; FMCG, the broader Utilities, Military or Aviation.
We work in hazardous areas, so knowledge of health and safety is key. It would be desirable for you to have an in date CompEx certificate, if not, it is something we could consider putting you through.
