Lead Quantity Surveyor - Remote with Travel (England) + Company Car - £65,000 - £80,000

About the Role

As a Lead Quantity Surveyor at National Gas, you’ll be at the forefront of our Control Systems construction team, driving commercial excellence across the EC&I Framework. This is a pivotal role where you’ll act as the subject matter expert, overseeing construction spend, risk exposure, and commercial performance. You’ll lead the development and implementation of robust contract governance and commercial procedures, ensuring our projects align with business objectives, regulatory outputs, and risk appetite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial and contractual governance within the EC&I Framework, ensuring value delivery and compliance.
  • Develop and continuously improve commercial procedures, policies, and contract governance frameworks.
  • Act as the primary commercial contact for framework contractors, legal, and procurement teams.
  • Manage contractor relationships, monitor performance, and drive high standards of health and safety.
  • Oversee construction spend and cost planning across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with regulatory allowances.
  • Provide expert support on NEC4 contract administration, including FastDraft usage.
  • Resolve commercial disputes proactively, fostering collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
  • Lead and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors, promoting a high-performance and learning culture.
  • Prepare and review financial reports, CVRs, and commercial dashboards to support strategic decision-making.

What We’re Looking For

  • Extensive commercial experience in infrastructure or engineering.
  • Strong NEC4 contract knowledge (ECC/PSC) and FastDraft proficiency.
  • NEC PM Accreditation (desirable).
  • Proven ability to manage complex, regulated projects and contractor frameworks.
  • Skilled in dispute resolution, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership.
  • MRICS/MCICES or working towards chartership.
  • Experience in regulated sectors (utilities, transport, energy).
  • Familiarity with digital commercial tools and data-driven reporting.
  • Understanding of regulatory allowances and governance procedures.
