C&I Rotating Machinery Engineer

£53,500 to £62,500 plus:

• Up to 6% annual bonus
• Company car*

*If required, you’ll have access to a vehicle for business use during your probation period. Once you’ve successfully completed probation, and provided you meet the required business mileage thresholds, you’ll be eligible to order a company car.

East region, with Peterborough as the central hub

As this role supports the East region of the UK, we’re looking for someone based locally. The position requires travel to our Peterborough hub and other operational sites across the region a minimum of 3 days per week, with home working available on other days.

Locations include: Bacton, Cambridge, Chelmsford, Diss, Hatton (Lincolnshire), Huntingdon, Kings Lynn, Peterborough, and Wisbech.

About the role

As a C&I Rotating Machinery Engineer for the East region, you’ll help keep our gas turbines and compressors running safely, reliably and efficiently. You’ll provide expert technical support across rotating equipment and its associated control and instrumentation systems, acting as the vital link between site operations, maintenance teams, projects and central engineering.

What you’ll be doing

• Providing technical and operational support for gas turbines, compressors and associated control systems
• Troubleshooting and resolving faults on machinery controls, vibration and protection systems
• Supporting planned and unplanned maintenance, inspections and overhauls
• Maintaining and optimising PLC/SCADA systems and machine protection systems
• Working with OEMs on updates, performance issues and improvements
• Conducting asset health assessments and reviewing maintenance strategies
• Supporting outages, upgrades, modifications and engineering projects
• Ensuring compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations
• Sharing expertise with site teams and promoting safe, efficient working

About you

You’ll bring strong rotating machinery and controls expertise, a calm analytical approach, and the confidence to support operational sites independently. You’ll enjoy problem-solving, working closely with site teams and delivering practical, reliable engineering solutions. You’re safety‑focused, proactive and comfortable balancing multiple priorities across a regional area.

Key requirements & experience

Essential

• HNC/HND or degree (or equivalent) in electrical or control and instrumentation related discipline
• Experience with gas turbines and/or gas compressors in energy, oil & gas, or similar industries
• Strong knowledge of machine protection systems and machinery fault diagnosis
• Experience with PLC/SCADA and safety instrumented systems
• Knowledge and worked experience of the following control systems: PCS7, Allen Bradley PLC5 Control Logix, Solar TT4 and SLC500
• Understanding of maintenance, reliability and performance monitoring
• Experience supporting live operational sites and outages
• Ability to write or support the writing of technical scopes for rotating machinery overhauls
• Confident working with site teams in operational environments
• Strong communication and stakeholder skills, and a proactive and continuous improvement mindset
• Full UK car driving licence

Desirable

• Functional Safety training
• Experience with anti‑surge or OEM control systems
