Internal Communications and Engagement Officer – Peterborough, hybrid: £40,000-£45,000

 

Fantastic opportunity in a newly created position to define, lead, and execute internal communications and engagement for our recently formed East region and National Gas Services (NGS).  You’ll create and manage local channels to provide high quality internal communications on behalf of local leadership teams and work closely with our established central internal communications team to promote the work and successes of the region to the rest of the company.

 

Reporting to the Senior Regional HR Lead, you’ll play a vital role in supporting NGS and National Gas Transmission (NGT) in the East, contributing to the safe and reliable delivery of energy across the country.  This is a unique opportunity to be part of an organisation that powers homes and businesses nationwide.

Key accountabilities:

 

  • Create clear, consistent and compelling content.
  • Provide internal communications counsel to Leadership teams, ensuring prioritisation and alignment of communication and engagement activities.
  • Develop, implement and measure an annual internal communication and engagement plan, covering topics, priorities, key campaigns, projects, programmes, and issues.
  • Work closely with the core internal communications team to implement and manage effective multi-channel local communications (such as emails, newsletters, town halls) managing the interface with centrally managed core channels; and promote the region’s news, issues, announcements and projects to the wider business.
  • Devise and manage mechanisms to enable regular feedback, such as surveys and other means, to gauge sentiment and inform future actions.
  • Work alongside the Core Events and Engagement Manager to develop colleague engagement approaches, enhance leadership visibility, and run regional events.
  • Work closely with the Internal Communications Manager on the response to serious issues and incidents in the region, providing advice and materials as required.

 

About you:

 

You have proven experience delivering and implementing high quality internal communication and engagement plans from working within complex organisations, advising leaders with your specialist knowledge of engagement and campaign delivery, across multiple channels and audiences (focused not only on planning, but execution and measurement).  You’re a skilled writer and editor, with an ability to produce compelling and concise content for a range of communications channels and formats, and experience in modern colleague communication and engagement channels, digital tools, and communications best practice.  This is a newly created role, so we’re looking for a proactive and energetic self-starter, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, while also able to take a collaborative approach with teams across the business and other regions.
