Quantity Surveyor
£53,500 to £65,000 plus up to 6% bonus and company car (if mileage requirements are met)
East region
We have vacancies across the East of the UK at the following locations: Hatton (Lincolnshire), Bacton, Peterborough, Huntingdon, Cambridge, Chelmsford, Kings Lynn and Diss. The role will involve travel across the East region, including your base site and others, around three days a week. Some overnight stays may be required.

About the role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll play a pivotal role in the financial and contractual management of construction projects. You’ll ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves cost estimation, contract negotiation, financial oversight, and risk management, all while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing commercial support to Project Managers, managing all contractual relationships.
- Overseeing multiple contracts within a defined portfolio, ensuring effective contract administration.
- Managing project finances, including spend-to-date tracking and forecasting in line with contract terms and governance frameworks.
- Supporting risk management processes and maintaining the Risk Register in collaboration with the Project Manager.
- Assisting with tender evaluations and negotiations, offering professional advice throughout.
- Leading dispute resolution efforts by providing expert guidance and support.
- Ensuring all contracts are properly administered professionally, and keeping relevant stakeholders informed of all commercial issues.
- Working collaboratively with the project team to identify and implement efficiencies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensuring all records are maintained for financial information purposes.
- Mentoring and supporting Junior Quantity Surveyors (JQS) and other team members.
About you
You’ll be proactive and detail-oriented, with a strong background in quantity surveying and contract management. Confident in managing complex projects and mentoring others, you’ll thrive in dynamic environments. Your leadership and ability to navigate contractual and financial challenges will establish you as a trusted advisor and collaborative team player.
Key requirements & experience
- Strong experience and working knowledge in a construction-based Quantity Surveyor role
- Proven experience in construction, ideally within utilities and large-scale projects
- Strong working knowledge of NEC two-stage ECI and NEC3/NEC4 (Options A, C & E)
- Demonstrated leadership and advanced contract/project management skills
- BSc (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying - desirable
- Experience managing quantity surveyors - desirable
- CICES or RICS chartered member - desirable
- Full UK car driving licence
