About the Role

  • Provide day work operational support to the Duty Shift Team and to fulfil the role of Control Room and Plant Operator with the ability to devise and apply plant isolations for planned works.
  • Undertake routine operational activities and assist in the control and operation.
  • Facilitate and support the preparation of site works for work to be undertaken on site, including atmospheric testing. This role involves working a day work support pattern to support the on-site project delivery working arrangement.
  • Support the control and operation of a Terminal to facilitate the throughput of gas flow nominations from Supplier Terminals, Shippers and Delivery Facility Operators into the national transmission system via local operating procedures, network entry agreements and the network code.

What You'll be Doing

  • To support the duty team on days and to perform the role of Control Room & Plant Operator to  operate the safe system of work for control of work activities on site.
  • Ability to devise and apply plant isolations for planned works
  • Communicate and liaise with the Gas Network Control Centre, Supplier Terminals, Shippers and Delivery Facility Operators to facilitate the throughput of gas flow nominations in accordance with local operating procedures, network entry agreements and the network code.
  • Undertake operational system actions in respect of gas quality and network entry agreement breaches and acting on Terminal Flow Advice notices
  • Undertake routine operational tasks / inspections and assist in the effective control and operation of a Terminal and associated plant and equipment (including installed compressor units, gas blending, flow control and gas quality equipment). This is to include pre work preparation for the safe setting to work for on-site activities to maximise plant availability and reliability
  • Assist with on and off site communications, including the liaison with the Gas Network Control Centre, Supplier Terminals, Shippers and Delivery Facility Operators to facilitate the throughput of gas flow nominations in accordance with local operating procedures, network entry agreements and the network code.
  • Assist in the ‘safe setting to work’ of work activities in accordance with the safe control of operations procedures contributing to a team culture of safe working and safety compliance in all work activities with National Gas Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintain accurate site operational records as required, to ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures, legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with routine operational activities associated with Terminal and AGI systems and assets in accordance with relevant policies and procedures, optimise work effectiveness and efficiencies, maximising asset and plant availability and reliability.
  • Assist the incident controller, duty Control room Operator and site main controller as required during planned and emergency situations in accordance with the on and off site emergency plans, and the monitoring and control of security operations for the terminal

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.

Key Requirements and Experience

  • Good understanding of appropriate legislative requirements, company standards and instructions
  • Good understanding of terminal plant & equipment including compressor units (aero derivatives and high voltage electrical drive machinery trains), gas blending, flow control and gas quality equipment, including a detailed understanding of how plant is safely isolated, decommissioned and re-commissioned
  • Detailed understanding of the Safe Control of Operations procedures and Authorised as Competent Person and Authorised Person Plant within SCO/91 & /94
  • Assessed competent against Competency Framework for the role.

Qualifications Required:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering/operational discipline, with significant relevant experience
  • Valid current driving licence
