About the role

As a Health & Safety (CDM) Advisor, you’ll be a trusted specialist supporting construction and operational teams to plan, execute, and complete work safely and compliantly. From reviewing RAMS and conducting audits to leading incident investigations and engaging contractors, you’ll play a pivotal part in embedding a strong, proactive safety culture.

You’ll work across multiple project sites, applying your expertise to ensure alignment with legislation, internal standards, and industry best practice — all while helping us continuously improve the way we work.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant UK health and safety legislation, guidance, and CDM 2015 obligations.
  • Leading site inspections, audits, and safety checks to identify hazards and drive corrective actions.
  • Reviewing and advising on RAMS for high‑risk activities including excavation, confined space entry, and work near live gas assets.
  • Supporting or leading investigations into incidents, near misses, and non‑conformances, identifying root causes and lessons learned.
  • Delivering toolbox talks, site inductions, and targeted safety training to operational teams and contractors.
  • Acting as a champion for a positive safety culture, encouraging reporting, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Advising on health and safety requirements during project planning and mobilisation phases.
  • Monitoring contractor safety performance and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate safety documentation: audits, inspection reports, training records, and incident reports.
  • Supporting strategic safety initiatives, including behavioural safety campaigns and digital tool improvements.
  • Undertaking ISO45001 inspections to support certification and compliance.
  • Managing your own workload with autonomy, balancing proactive and reactive safety responsibilities.
