About The Role
Our Control System Project Support Technician’s support the St Fergus Terminal Control System Replacement Project. Responsibilities include developing and implementing isolations, producing drawing mark-ups, and supporting installation and commissioning activities. The role provides on-site technical support and guidance to the Principal Works Contractor to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of project activities.

This role is key to the successful delivery of the St Fergus Terminal Control System Replacement Project, ensuring that new control system assets are installed, commissioned, and integrated safely and efficiently into the gas transmission network. The Project Support Technician provides essential technical expertise in electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, develops and implements safe isolations, oversees contractor activities, and supports commissioning and operational readiness. By maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and technical assurance, the role helps protect the reliability, integrity, and continuity of a key national energy infrastructure asset.
What You'll Be Doing
- Ensure the safe execution of work activities for yourself and others by developing isolations in accordance with Safe Control of Operations procedures, while actively promoting a culture of safety and compliance with National Gas policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate site records of all work activities and operations undertaken to ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support the construction and commissioning of new assets onto the gas transmission system and identify the requirement to replace/upgrade existing plant and equipment, participate in the design of minor modifications, and the provision of technical support within discipline and competencies as required.
- Oversee and inspect work activities undertaken by contractors and working party members where required to provide assurance that technical and safety compliance standards are maintained and undertaken.
- To undertake installation, inspection, commissioning, operation and emergency response activities associated with assets within St Fergus Terminal as required.

Essential
- Proven maintenance, and operational knowledge and experience gained within a relevant engineering discipline of Electrical, Instrumentation or Control Systems
- Undertaking inspection work on equipment installed in hazardous areas
- Operating, controlling, and undertaking work within Safe Systems of Work
- Understanding of Health & Safety Legislative Requirements and knowledge of process control systems and Functional Safety.
- Possess relevant Training Certification and/or Evidence of Competencies to support knowledge and experience.
- Time-served Apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics or Control Systems)
- BTEC National Certificate (or equivalent City & Guilds, NVQ/SVQ Level 3) in relevant engineering discipline
- Valid current driving licence
Desirable
- CompEx Ex01-Ex04 Certified for the Installation, Inspection and Maintenance of Ex Electrical and Instrumentation Equipment in Hazardous Areas
