About the Role:

This role leads and supports the operational performance of a specific region, making sure resources are used effectively and services are delivered to a high standard. You’ll be responsible for forecasting, reporting, and developing useful insights to help improve productivity, safety, environmental compliance, and cost efficiency.

You’ll work with and guide multidisciplinary teams—including scheduling, dispatch, cathodic protection, and training—fostering collaboration and continuous improvement. The role also involves managing contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and helping shape a positive and inclusive working environment

What You'll be Doing:

  • Take ownership of performance data across the Scotland & North England regions, ensuring accuracy and working with teams to resolve any issues.
  • Lead the Scheduling and Dispatch Team to plan and deliver work efficiently, including emergency responses and third-party obligations.
  • Act as a key link between planning and delivery teams to ensure work is well-coordinated and executed smoothly.
  • Manage regional financial planning and reporting, including forecasting for operational and capital projects.
  • Oversee project plans, track progress against time and budget, and monitor how resources are used.
  • Align resource use with maintenance schedules, demand forecasts, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to long-term infrastructure planning and investment decisions.
  • Support customer connection processes and manage contracts effectively.
  • Identify risks related to people and assets, and develop practical solutions to reduce impact.
  • Manage Cathodic Protection activities, ensuring work is delivered on time and within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with street works regulations, including timely notifications.
  • Produce and maintain performance reports covering safety, environment, finances, work delivery, and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and work with teams to implement positive changes.
  • Lead regional training efforts, including planning for apprenticeships and competency development.
  • Facilitate workshops and working groups to support continuous improvement and problem-solving.
  • Champion change by encouraging collaboration, innovation, and new ways of working.
  • Maintain strong communication with regulators and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and standards.

Ideally, you’ll have experience in planning, scheduling, contract management, and regulatory compliance, along with a good understanding of infrastructure operations. But most importantly, you’re someone who leads with integrity, communicates clearly, and brings people together to achieve shared goals.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.

Key Requirements & Experience:

  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, company standards and instructions
  • Experience in coordinating maintenance schedules and utilisation plans
  • Experience working in asset management, operations planning or system utilisation.
  • Understanding risk management in asset utilisation
  • Strong project management understanding and capability
  • Contract management capability to set up and manage
  • Skilled in financial management and reporting
  • Knowledge of ‘lean’ business practices and agile methodology
  • Skilled in Microsoft’s suite of office tools including Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Good understanding of high-pressure gas transmission assets, including pipeline systems, compressor stations, and associated plant & equipment
  • Excellent influencing, customer orientation and communication skills, providing the ability to promote team working and harmonious working between direct staff, project teams and contractors at all levels

 

Essential quals:

  • Valid current driving licence
  • Ideally educated to HNC level in relevant engineering field or equivalent experience in in gas transmission, utilities or energy systems

Desirable quals:

Ideally educated to HNC level in an engineering field, project management or planning
