Project Director - Hydrogen & CCS - East Midlands Based

National Gas has an exciting and important role in net zero and in leading a fair energy transition for the UK. We will do this by developing the green gas system of tomorrow, while delivering the natural gas needs of today. 

About the Role:

As a Project Director (Hydrogen and CCS) at National Gas, you will be ideally based within the east midlands and be pivotal in setting up and delivering major projects for both Hydrogen and Carbon Capture. Your role will involve developing and leading projects, ensuring contract strategies are correct, and putting the right capabilities in place to deliver these projects successfully.

We're Looking for a Project Director who can:

• Deliver and plan the next regulatory cycle and major projects.
• Lead readiness and mobilisation efforts.
• Integrate commercial, technical, financial, and stakeholder management elements.
• Progress and deliver FEED, planning, and preconstruction elements.
• Drive progress planning and mitigate against slippage.
• Collaborate with Contracts and Procurement on key work packages.
• Maintain excellent communication with internal stakeholders.
• Organize and lead project meetings, ensuring professional representation.
• Follow internal processes and maintain accurate PMO reporting.
• Resolve problems through collaboration and champion continuous improvement.
• Comply with all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.
• Develop and enforce HS&E standards.
• Oversee interface management with delivery teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Develop skills and supply chain capacity.
• Implement workforce plans and mobilization.
• Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience managing major projects and programmes.
• Strong understanding of the contracting market.
• Demonstrated ability to implement project management and construction best practices.
• Leadership skills to develop and manage a team of specialist resources, including cost experts and project managers.
