Join us, and help be the energy behind the change.

National Gas is the backbone of Britain's energy system. We're responsible for securing the UK's energy, whilst leading the way to a net-zero future.

As the operator of Britain’s national gas transmission network, we repair and maintain gas pipelines, safely and reliably delivering gas to power stations, industries and 23 million homes.

Our skilled teams work to keep the gas flowing to our customers, generating power and helping to keep everyone connected.

At the same time, we’re pioneering new solutions like hydrogen transmission to help decarbonise energy, so our infrastructure continues to power the country as it transitions to net-zero.

As a graduate joining National Gas, it’s an inspiring environment where you know your work will directly contribute to keeping the nation’s energy secure today, whilst building a more sustainable, net-zero energy system for tomorrow.

About the Role

Joining our Major Programmes Commercial team, you'll have an amazing opportunity to work alongside experts, who every day, are developing plans for the future. You’ll be part of the engine behind some of the UK’s most complex and high-profile energy projects.

This part of the business is responsible for delivering large-scale initiatives, from new compressor builds and control system upgrades to pipeline diversions and hydrogen/CCUS (carbon capture, utilisation and storage) projects, safely, on time, and on budget.

As a graduate, your work will be full of variety. You’ll collaborate with our regional teams, suppliers, and specialists to keep projects moving, using smart contract models and innovative ways of working to strengthen engagement and ensure successful delivery. With enabling functions like Engineering, Supply Chain, and Commercial embedded throughout the project lifecycle, you’ll gain exposure to every stage of delivery and see how collaboration drives progress.

You might be engaging with the government, collaborating internally and externally on report submissions, liaising with stakeholders and communities or perhaps developing new styles of presentation to bring to life National Gas’s performance narrative.

This is a dynamic environment where your work will directly contribute to shaping the future of Britain’s energy system.

During this 18-month programme, after your initial induction, you’ll complete three 6-month placements. This will cover various teams within the Commercial business function, so that you can be exposed to different, yet relevant experiences and skillsets that will set you up for your career.
