About the role

Are you passionate about driving strategic sourcing and building powerful supplier partnerships? If so, we want you to lead the way as our next Supply Chain Lead for Major Programmes.

 

As a Supply Chain Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-value, complex projects that are critical to the UK’s energy infrastructure. Your work will ensure we secure the best suppliers, drive value, and keep our major programmes on track, making a real difference to our business and the communities we serve.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading and managing strategic sourcing events for major projects, ensuring goods and services are procured efficiently and effectively.
  • Developing and executing project sourcing strategies, using data analysis and market insights to inform decisions.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with critical suppliers and internal stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Preparing and issuing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), analysing bid responses, negotiating pricing and contract terms, and awarding contracts.
  • Conducting market research to identify new suppliers and industry trends.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members, helping them reach their full potential.
  • Driving contract management initiatives to deliver value and efficiencies.
  • Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and the central Supply Chain team to align strategies and deliver successful outcomes.
  • Managing the procurement of long-lead items and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

About you

You’re a confident communicator and a natural collaborator, able to build rapport with stakeholders at all levels. Your proactive approach and analytical mindset mean you’re always looking for ways to add value and solve problems before they arise.

Key requirements & experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a strategic sourcing or supply chain professional, ideally within construction or major projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracting suites (including NEC).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sourcing projects from start to finish.
  • Experience in supplier engagement, requirement definition, sourcing planning, and competitive bidding.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Desirable:

  • MCIPS qualification (or working towards).
