About the role
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Technician to join our Operations team, supporting critical assets across the Northwest region, including Preston, Chorley, Lancaster and Carnforth.
This is a key role responsible for the installation, inspection, commissioning, operation, maintenance and repair of Terminal, Compressor Station, Pipeline and AGI assets across the national transmission system.
You will work as part of a high performing engineering team, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient running of plant and equipment. A strong background in electrical systems within hazardous areas (DSEAR/COMPEX) is essential, as the role includes significant focus on compliance and safety critical work.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out installation, inspection, commissioning, operation, repair and maintenance activities across Terminal, Compressor Station, Pipeline and AGI systems.
- Deliver high standards of technical performance to maximise asset availability, reliability and efficiency.
- Issue safe to work documentation, devise isolations and contribute to a culture of safe, compliant working.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and operational records in line with regulatory requirements.
- Support construction, commissioning and modification projects, including replacement and upgrade of existing plant and equipment.
- Contribute to the development and review of operational, safety, emergency and environmental procedures.
- Act as Incident Controller/Site Main Controller during planned and emergency situations as required.
- Support pipeline protection activities including monitoring thirdparty works, CP monitoring and inspection programmes.
- Oversee contractor activities to ensure adherence to technical and safety standards.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven maintenance and operational experience in an electrical engineering discipline.
- Background in the Oil & Gas or similar process industry, with strong understanding of hazardous area equipment.
- Experience conducting maintenance, fault finding, inspection and testing.
- Competent operating within Safe Systems of Work.
- Understanding of Health & Safety and discipline specific legislation.
- Ability to operate and control process plant and associated equipment.
- Strong appreciation of other engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Instrumentation, Control Systems).
- Full UK driving licence.
Essential Qualifications - Time served Apprenticeship or recognised engineering training scheme (Electrical discipline preferred).
- BTEC National Certificate, City & Guilds, NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Evidence of training, certification and technical competencies supporting experience.
