At National Gas, the work we do matters.

Join us and help secure Britain's energy.

About the role:

As a Capacity Strategy & Development Analyst, you'll help shape and develop the capacity arrangements that enable efficient access to Britain's gas transmission network, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations while supporting customers and stakeholders.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring National Gas meets its GB and EU regulatory obligations while delivering value for customers and network users. Working at the intersection of commercial, regulatory and operational activities, you'll provide analysis and insight that supports strategic decision-making, capacity optimisation and risk management.

You'll contribute to the ongoing development of capacity frameworks, incentive arrangements and industry processes, helping National Gas respond to regulatory change while maintaining a safe, reliable and efficient gas network. Through collaboration with internal teams, customers, regulators and industry stakeholders, you'll influence outcomes that support both business performance and the wider energy market.

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of GB and EU capacity arrangements to ensure regulatory and commercial compliance.

  • Analysing operational and commercial issues relating to capacity arrangements and identifying opportunities for improvement.

  • Providing analytical support for capacity release processes, risk management activities and responses to customer enquiries.

  • Producing reports and insights on network constraints, capacity utilisation trends and market behaviours.

  • Supporting the development of future capacity frameworks, regulatory changes and associated licence, code and system updates.

  • Working with stakeholders to maximise value under capacity incentive arrangements while mitigating financial and reputational risks.

  • Supporting capacity auction activities, customer engagement and user acceptance testing for capacity-related systems and processes.

What you'll bring:

Essential:

  • Strong analytical skills with experience identifying, evaluating and managing risks and opportunities.

  • Ability to interpret, manipulate and present data to identify trends, insights and recommendations.

  • A logical, practical and creative approach to problem solving, with the ability to simplify complex challenges.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
