About the role:

Are you passionate about driving environmental and sustainability initiatives that deliver tangible benefits for businesses, communities and the planet? National Gas is seeking a Carbon Specialist to join our team and play a key role in ensuring our environmental and sustainability objectives are met.

 

In this role, you'll manage and supervise the monitoring of our Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emissions reporting against the GHG Protocol and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), analysing the data and providing internal assurance. You will lead our Carbon Footprint reporting for scope 1, 2 and 3 and have deep understanding of reporting methodologies. 

 

You’ll also play a pivotal role in engaging with stakeholders across the business and externally, championing the value of environmental reporting and benchmarking against our commitments and requirements. With a focus on delivering real benefits to National Gas, the environment, you’ll develop and deliver carbon management and reporting advice, training and communications, empowering our teams to achieve our carbon reduction targets.

 

As part of our hybrid working approach, this role offers a mix of office and home working. Ideally you'll be based near our head office in Warwick, but it's not essential, as you'll need to be able to travel to the Warwick office and the office nearest your base location approx. 2-3 times a week. There will also be ad-hoc travel to other sites across the UK when required.

What we're looking for:

Essential - 

  • Degree (or equivalent) in an environment/sustainability discipline 
  • Knowledge and experience of carbon footprint methodologies and
  • reporting for scope 1, 2 and 3; (e.g., Greenhouse Gas Protocol)
  • Broad appreciation of business carbon reduction strategies and initiatives
  • Awareness of relevant reporting requirements and concepts
  • Full UK car driving licence

 

Desirable - 

  • Professional membership of a relevant professional body e.g. IEMA, CIEEM, CIWEM
  • Understanding of other environment and sustainability reporting standards (e.g.  International Sustainable Standards Board S1 and S2)
