The Revenue and Charging Manager, reporting directly to the Head of Market Change, supports the long-term and short-term gas market priorities of National Gas Transmission (NGT) through the development of future market commercial frameworks, Network Code (UNC) Modifications, Licence changes and other regulatory framework changes in order to align to NGT’s strategy and deliver value for our customers.
Managing a team of four analysts, this role is predominantly focused on the charging function that calculates transportation charges and develops updates to the framework, to recover National Gas’ Regulated Allowed Revenues.

About the role:
There are several critical functions this role will be responsible for, the main ones being:
- To set, publish, and monitor the performance of the National Gas Transmission systems transportation charges to recover National Gas’s allowed revenues and be in line with all Uniform Network Code (UNC) and licence obligations (c.£1.5bn per annum).
- To act as lead initiating and responding to changes to the UNC (mostly, but not limited to) the charging methodology and its application. This can include focusing on licence obligations & industry, regulatory, government developments and customer and stakeholder feedback.
- To act as a focal point on gas transportation pricing, providing insight, advice and support on industry developments internally and externally.
About you:
This position requires a strategic thinker, with strong analytical background and financial acumen, proven management experience, and excellent stakeholder management skills:
- Degree or similar in numerate, financial or analytical discipline would be an advantage; and knowledge of Gas or Energy systems – or the interest and aptitude to learn very quickly (a complex field).
- A strategic thinker, with a passion for driving the UK’s net zero transition and how effective charging structures for access and use of the GB Gas network will contribute.
- Outstanding stakeholder management with proven ability to build and lead key relationships, externally as well as internally.
- Experience in commercial, regulatory or finance environments, with sound risk management and commercial insight.
- Managing a team that deliver focused analytical or numerical assessments.
- Analytical background and expertise interpreting complex data sets and overlaying commercial and regulatory intelligence.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver analysis and commercial insight to support decision making and cutting through complex topics to inform internal and external Stakeholders.
- Ability to lead, develop and analyse complex data sets, including applying commercial awareness and insight, creating clear summaries to inform decision making and deliver well-structured stakeholder engagement.
- The ability to critically analyse the current charging regime to identify improvement initiatives, garner support from industry for these initiatives and implement these via the established industry processes (UNC).
