Consents Support Officer
Salary: £42,283 - £58,015
Hybrid – Warwick, Warrington, Nottingham, Bristol
About the role
We are looking for a Supporting Consents Officer to join our expanding Consents Team. You’ll be responsible for securing the consents for our projects, including the confirmation of permitted development rights and planning permissions. The range of projects is diverse, from gas diversions, network upgrades and new pipelines to working on our very own compressor stations, gas sites and decommissioning projects throughout the country. Reporting to the Consents Manager, you’ll use your knowledge to advise and support our project teams. We offer flexible hybrid working arrangements. We’d hope to see you in the office one or two days a week, and you’ll also need to be flexible to travel to other offices and project sites as required.
What you’ll do
- You will support more senior members of the consents team to develop and deliver effective consents strategies.
- Coordinate the planning and delivery of environmental surveys and assessments in line with programme and team quality assurance processes.
- Collaborate with technical specialists within NGT to optimise delivery and ensure risks and issues are identified and mitigated/managed.
- Co-ordinate our suppliers on our project workstreams.
- Support on reporting on key milestones, deliverables, risks, opportunities and all financial matters.
- Review, advise and draft responses to Government policy consultations.
- Support and/ or lead on consultations with regulatory authorities and statutory nature conservation bodies.
- Support and participate in (public) stakeholder consultation.
- Be proactive in capturing and sharing lessons learned so that they can be communicated within the wider consents team to drive a culture of continuous improvement.
Key experience & responsibilities
- Degree or equivalent in environmental topic, Town Planning or Environmental Planning.
- Professional Membership, or working towards membership, of an accredited body such as (but not limited to) the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Energy Institute or the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
- Knowledge and experience in the delivery of consents and environmental impact assessment (EIA) related activities in support of construction projects during the development and / or delivery phases of projects.
- You’ll be comfortable to undertake interactions and communications with critical stakeholders such as Local Planning Authorities and Statutory Consultees.
- Capability in effectively working within a multi-disciplinary consents and environmental team comprising both internal and external resources, to deliver consents, stakeholder engagement and EIA related activities.
- Understanding of energy infrastructure planning and policy to support project development and delivery.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with an ability to present information to large and/or challenging external audiences.
