Data Privacy Advisor – Warwick, hybrid – c£50,000 + bens

The Data Privacy Advisor will be responsible for driving our business compliance with UK GDPR and other relevant regulations.  This role focuses on aligning internal policies with regulatory requirements and identifying, mitigating, and addressing privacy risks.

About the role:

 

This is a newly-created role, and a great opportunity for a UK GDPR expert to join us as we build and embed new frameworks, implement privacy initiatives, looking forward to automation and streamlining processes, whilst proactively promoting privacy throughout the business.  Working closely alongside our Licence and Data Privacy Specialist, you will:

 

  • Resolve data privacy queries from internal teams and external parties
  • Process Data Subject Access Requests (DSARSs) efficiently
  • Identify and mitigate privacy risks by executing comprehensive data protection impact assessments (DPIAs)
  • Develop, Implement and maintain data protection policies, procedures and standard operating procedures
  • Facilitate the triage of data incidents by working with internal stakeholders to assess, categorise, and escalate
  • Design and deliver engaging data privacy awareness programmes
  • Implement and maintain a structured approach to recording processing activities and documentation
  • Implement and oversee an accountability framework that tracks identified gaps and risks.

There is also scope for the role to broaden further into ethics & investigations and records management, as part of the wider Business Integrity team.

 

About you:

 

You’re a UK GDPR and privacy compliance specialist - if you hold a recognised certification in data protection this would be very highly regarded (if this is something you want to achieve, we can pay for you to become a qualified data practitioner).

 

  • Demonstrate experience in managing DSARs, conducting DPIAs and developing privacy documentation
  • Proven ability to interpret legal and regulatory requirements and apply them to ensure compliance in daily operations
  • Experience in managing data breach reporting and investigation processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Experience applying compliance frameworks and the principles of privacy by design to ensure data protection throughout business operations
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high accuracy and precision in documentation, ensuring compliance and clarity
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of managing and influencing stakeholders at all levels
