About us

National Gas is securing Britain’s energy. We transport gas throughout Great Britain, repair and maintain gas pipelines, and manage the meters that allow millions of homes and businesses to access the energy they need. We are the national gas network, providing secure energy to power Britain, achieve net zero, and maintain our industrial competitiveness.

About the role

We’re delivering one of the most ambitious transformation programmes in the sector and digital excellence sits at the heart of it. If you’re passionate about making data work harder, enabling world‑class engineering outcomes, and building digital capability that lasts long after construction is complete, this is your opportunity to play a defining role.

As our Digital Project Information Manager, you’ll lead the digital engineering and information management strategy for a major FEED‑phase infrastructure programme. Your work ensures that every design decision, engineering workflow, and dataset across our delivery partners is robust, compliant, future‑ready, and aligned to National Gas standards.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading digital strategy delivery aligned with ISO 19650, RE21 and RE20, ensuring consistent data and information management across all partners.
  • Owning and optimising the Common Data Environment (Autodesk Construction Cloud) from configuration and workflows to onboarding, training, and best‑practice adoption.
  • Embedding strong data governance including ownership models, standards compliance, quality assurance, version control and traceability for BIM, GIS, and asset data.
  • Integrating BIM, GIS and asset data into workflows, ensuring National Gas remains the authoritative host for project information.
  • Building and developing a high‑performing digital engineering team, supporting capability growth and leading collaboration forums.
  • Driving process improvement and innovation, reducing manual steps, implementing automation, and championing digitisation across the project.
  • Providing expert input during planning and delivery, offering guidance on data impacts, risk management, change control and lifecycle data readiness.

About you

You’re a confident collaborator who builds strong relationships and champions high standards. You bring a balance of technical expertise and people‑centred leadership, thriving in complex environments where coordination and clarity are essential.

Key requirements & experience

Essential:

  • Degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in digital engineering, BIM, and information management on large infrastructure projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 19650 and experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).
  • Experience defining PIR, EIR, IEP, and configuring MDR milestones within ACC.
  • Familiarity with GIS integration, asset data modelling, and engineering workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, train and engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage complex data workflows and coordinate cross‑functional delivery partners.

Desirable:

  • Experience with FME, Plant 3D, Navisworks, Revit, and GIS tools.
  • Knowledge of hydrogen infrastructure, regulated utilities, or digital twin concepts.
