Emergency Response & Resilience Officer - Warwick (Hybrid) - £40,755 to £51,000

National Gas is securing Britain’s energy. We transport gas throughout Great Britain, repair and maintain gas pipelines, and manage the meters that allow millions of homes and businesses to access the energy they need. We are the national gas network, providing secure energy to power Britain, achieve net zero, and maintain our industrial competitiveness.

About the role

As an Emergency Response & Resilience Officer, you’ll play a diverse and vital role in strengthening the resilience at the heart of National Gas. You’ll help ensure we are fully prepared to respond to and recover from disruptive events that could impact the business and the broader energy sector through enhanced resilience.

Working closely with the Energy System Resilience Team, you’ll support our joint activities with key partners to build resilience across the energy sector as well as enhancing National Gas-specific response and resilience.

You’ll manage commissions from government and other partners that demonstrate our capabilities for response and resilience, ensuring that our responses reflect current capabilities and our plans for the future energy system. You’ll also represent NGT to external stakeholders in support of our planning for a National Power Outage and other risks to the National Transmission System.

Collaboration is central to this role. You’ll work with internal stakeholders across National Gas and engage with external partners such as government bodies, the Gas Distribution Networks, other gas sector sites, and the electricity sector to ensure our planning is effective and our network remains resilient.

This role is pivotal in the future proofing of resilience arrangements in the face of the development of the ‘whole energy system’, the future of system operation and the move to a Hydrogen network.

What we are looking for

You bring excellent communication skills and experience working with a range of stakeholders and be able to adapt to the ever-changing landscape we operate in. You’re confident managing documentation and applying your knowledge of the UK resilience framework in a critical national infrastructure environment.

To be successful in this role, you'll be a detail-oriented and proactive professional with a strong background in emergency planning or the utilities, including energy. However, if you possess other skills you think may be transferrable into this arena, we would be keen to hear from you.

What we can offer you

  • Annual bonus of 6% based on personal and company performance
  • 26 days’ holiday plus statutory holidays - option available to buy extra or sell days
  • Double-match pension scheme - for every £1 you put in, we'll add £2 (max company contribution 12%)

  • Hybrid working - 3 days per week (on average) in the office at Warwick and the remainder from home
  • Flexible working hours
  • Free gym and exercise classes, subsidised canteen and coffee shop onsite at our Warwick office
