Energy Market Development Specialist – Warwick, hybrid - £46,000-£54,000 DOE

 

National Gas are proud to lead the way in transforming the energy network for a net zero future.  Gas provides the energy security to support renewable electricity generation, and we are developing our infrastructure to transport hydrogen and carbon dioxide across Great Britain.  We are responsible for transporting gas to power stations, major industries, storage facilities, and more than half a million businesses and 24 million homes through nearly 5,000 miles of pipes across the country.


System Operations is responsible for operating, controlling and monitoring the gas National Transmission System (NTS) in real time - making gas available when and where our customers across Great Britain need it, playing an essential role in keeping Britain moving.  We also facilitate the efficient operation of the GB gas market.

 

As an Energy Market Development Specialist, you will lead projects that facilitate commercial and regulatory change in the gas industry, to deliver outcomes that ensure the gas industry is able to remain a cost effective and sustainable part of the energy system, whilst maintaining alignment to National Gas Transmission’s commercial and regulatory strategy.

About the role:

 

This is a newly created position, working as part of a large experienced team, offering the opportunity to:

 

 

  • Work on a wide range of projects to enhance GB energy arrangements, including Security of Supply, Biomethane, Carbon Capture and Storage (CCUS), EU legislative change and gas markets & arrangements for accessing the National Transmission System (NTS).

 

  • Build and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders (such as DESNZ, OFGEM and NESO), to effectively discuss, collaborate and negotiate industry change.

 

  • Work collaboratively across the business to identify and evaluate commercial change proposals.

 

  • Deliver commercial framework changes for onshore gas networks. Includes industry Code, Contracts, Licence etc.

 

  • Protect our interests and effectively influence industry change proposals.

 

  • Develop negotiating and influencing strategies.

 

  • Work collaboratively internally, leading projects to deliver desired change.

 

About you:

 

You’re experienced in stakeholder engagement - able to build and maintain relationships with industry participants and regulatory bodies, whilst influencing at all levels.  You enjoy problem solving - able to analyse complex issues, identify and gather relevant data & information, and develop well justified solution options, then communicate clearly and concisely.  You have proven experience of leading and managing projects.  A background in the energy industry, utilities or construction, with an understanding of the National Gas System (NGS) would be very highly regarded, but not essential.
