The Financial Accountant (Entity Analyst) position focuses on ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial information across assigned legal entities.  This includes owning balance sheet quality, performing detailed reconciliations and analysis, maintaining strong financial controls, and supporting timely and reliable statutory and management reporting.  The role underpins effective governance, reduces financial risk, and provides insights that enable informed business decision‑making.

About the role:

 

1. Balance Sheet Ownership & Integrity:

  • Own the balance sheet for assigned entities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to accounting policies.
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations, variance analysis, and periodic reviews to identify risks, errors, or unusual postings.
  • Drive timely resolution of reconciling items and ensure all balances are supported by appropriate audit ready documentation through Blackline scoping/administration.
  • Manage shared service balance sheet integrity team.
  • Organise quarterly balance sheet reviews between Group FC, Head of Financial reporting and SMEs. 

 

2. Financial Controls & Compliance:

  • Maintain a strong control environment by ensuring compliance internal controls, and company financial governance frameworks.
  • Prepare Quarterly Analytical Reviews.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by preparing schedules, providing documentation, and addressing audit requests.
  • Maintain robust documentation for reconciliations, controls, processes, and accounting judgments.

 

3. Entity‑Level Financial Reporting:

  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities for assigned legal entities.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet movements, and entity-level financial statements.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant statutory, regulatory, and management reporting.

 

4. Analytical Insight & Decision Support:

  • Provide clear balance sheet insights, commentary, and risk assessments to finance business partners and stakeholders.
  • Monitor and manage budget/forecast upload.
  • Support strategic finance initiatives by supplying accurate and meaningful financial analysis.

 

5. Cross‑Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with Controllership, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Shared Services to resolve issues and improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with FBPs to understand business drivers affecting the balance sheet and entity results.
  • Assist in Regulatory Reporting Packs.

 

7. Risk Management:

  • Identify, assess, and escalate financial risks related to balance sheet exposures, accounting treatments, or process weaknesses.
  • Support implementation of mitigation actions and strengthen controls to reduce risk.

 

About you:

 

You’re a fully qualified accountant (ACA/ ICAEW/ ICAS, ACCA, CIMA) – this would be an ideal opportunity for someone technically trained and qualified in a large Accountancy Practice to move in house.  You have strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS and FRS102), balance sheet governance, reconciliations, and financial control frameworks; and familiarity with month‑end close processes, journal entries, and financial reporting cycles.  You have solid understanding of internal controls, risk management, and audit requirements and working knowledge of statutory and management reporting, including entity-level financial statements.

 

In person, you're a team player with a natural collaborative approach to work across Finance Controllership, FP&A, Shared Services, and audit teams.  You're pro-active, diligent and ambitious, with strong problem solving and analytical skills.
