Working as part of a highly talented technical Infrastructure administration team, we're looking for an experienced Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Cloud Engineer to join us, working a standard 37 hour week Monday to Friday. To service the capacity demand for the function, the business requires 24x7x365 support for the Cloud Environments, and in order to resource this, the team operate a minimum of a 1-in-3 standby rota to provide out of hours support to ensure key areas of Critical National Infrastructure (CNI i.e. IMS/SCO/CMC/EPTW etc) is available at all times.

Key accountabilities:
- Management of cloud infrastructure platforms, ensuring the security and availability of the environments that host National Gas enterprise services. The team ensure 24/7 availability of this service, as well as monitoring and managing the infrastructure platform.
- System monitoring and optimisation. Perform incident response and change management for efficiency and cost control.
- Responsibility for ensuring availability and reliability of cloud environments and services.
- Enhancing security: identification and remediation of potential issues; collaboration with security teams to ensure compliance including the ASR team e.g. responding to security and vulnerability assessments and implementing recommendations to the cloud platform.
- Ownership of project deliverables, related change/incident tickets to meet timelines, KPIs and SLAs for the cloud platform and cloud services for CNI and the cloud infrastructure.
- Implementation and maintenance of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps Pipelines to maximise deployment and maintenance efficiency.
About you:
You have proven experience as a Lead Cloud Administrator or similar role, with GCP and ADO (Azure DevOps). You’re reliable, dependable and able to commit to a standby rota. We’re looking for a self-starter, who can take the initiative, a team player, someone detail orientated, with excellent communications.
Qualifications:
- Relevant Certification for either Azure or Google Cloud Platforms (GCP).
- Degree in relevant subject or significant equivalent Technology experience.
- ITILv4 Foundation Certificate.
Knowledge:
- Advanced knowledge of standard Cloud Services.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, service owners, and other stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Project Delivery and Continuous Improvement methods and processes.
- Knowledge of the Cyber Assessment Framework and Audit Assessments (eg ISO27001).
Skills:
- Strong Windows and Linux Skills.
- Proficiency with Automation Tools (eg Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
- Ability to perform Performance Tuning, Right Sizing and Disaster Recovery.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex transition plans and updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to deploy and manage containerised workloads.

- Standard working week: 37 hours Monday-Friday
- Standby on-call rota 1 week in every 3: overnight weekdays Mon-Fri or weekends Fri PM to Mon AM), as part of a team to cover 24/7/365 – currently £432 per week extra i.e. additional £7,344 per annum
